Typically, it takes no longer than 30 days for insurance companies to process electronic claims. Outstanding claims are defined as claims for which no final insurance payments have been posted. Post all current insurance payments before running this report.

To determine which claims are outstanding, run the Outstanding Claims report every 30 days for electronic and paper claims.

You can generate several reports:

•    Outstanding Claims by Company: The report lists all outstanding primary and secondary dental and medical insurance claims sorted by insurance company. This report includes total claim amounts submitted, total estimated payments due, and total pre-authorization amounts for both primary and secondary claims.

•    Outstanding Claims by Patient: The report lists all outstanding primary and secondary dental and medical insurance claims sorted by patient. This report includes total claim amounts submitted, total estimated payments due, and total pre-authorization amounts for both primary and secondary claims.

•    Outstanding Claims with Benefit to Pat. by Co.: The report lists all outstanding primary and secondary dental and medical insurance claims with a benefit owed to the patient, sorted by insurance company.

•    Outstanding Claims with Benefit to Pat. By Patient: The report lists all outstanding primary and secondary dental and medical insurance claims with a benefit owed to the patient, sorted by patient name.
