WinOMS: Error - Claim Rejection, Service Unit or Minutes Required

Symptoms:
Receiving an error rejection on electronic claims stating that service unit or minutes are required.

Cause:
Type of Service on the procedure code is set to an incorrect value.

 

IMPORTANT! Once a change has been made to a procedure code, the code will need to be deleted and reposted to the patient's ledger.

 

To Send Anesthesia in Units
1. Click Tables.
2. Click Procedure.
3. Click Codes.
4. Type the code in the code search box.
5. Click Find.
6. Highlight the code to edit.
7. Click Edit.
8. Set TOS (Type of Service) to Medical Care.
9. Click OK.

NOTE: When posting the charge, units will need to be entered with a value of 1, 2, 3, etc.

 

To Send Anesthesia in Minutes
1. Click Tables.
2. Click Procedure.
3. Click Codes.
4. Type the code in the code search box.
5. Click Find.
6. Highlight the code to edit.
7. Click Edit.
8. Set TOS (Type of Service) to Anesthesia.
9. Click OK.

NOTE: When posting the charge, units will need to be entered with a value of 15, 30, 45, etc.
