Contract Payment Coupon Books Printing "Out of Order" -- By Design

Issue:

Coupon books appear to be printing "out of order" (page 1 shows payment #8 of 24 followed by #17 of 24, etc;  page 2 shows payment #1 of 24 followed by #9 of 24 and #18 of 24, etc.).

 

Solution:

Coupon books are intended to be printed out, then the printout pages stacked on top of each other and turned into a "book". Generally each page will have three coupons. The first page will have a reminder notification as the first "coupon". If you choose to include 6 month reminders (for dental checkups) as well, every 6 coupons will be a dental checkup reminder, which takes up 2 coupon slots on that page.

 

Because each page has three slots on it, the number of payments in the contract / payment plan determines how many pages will print.

 

For each page, the first coupon should be torn off / cut off when that payment is due. The next coupon will then be the first coupon on the next page. When that payment is due, that coupon should be torn off / cut off, and the next coupon will be the first coupon on the next page, until the first coupon on each page has been used.

 

At that point, you will go back to the first page, where the first coupon now showing (remember, it was the second coupon on the original page, until the "reminder coupon" at the top was torn off) should be torn off / cut off. The next page will have the next coupon as the first coupon now showing on that page, and so on to the last page.

 

Finally, return to the first page and go through the book tearing off the remaining coupons until there are no more remaining.

 

The document attached to this page provides an example.  This is easiest to understand if it is printed out and the pages laid on top of each other.

 

The first coupon on each page goes as follows:

-- Page 1: Reminder / notification coupon
-- Page 2: Payment 0 of 7
-- Page 3: Payment 1 of 7
-- Page 4: Payment 2 of 7

 

The second coupon on each page goes as follows:

-- Page 1: Payment 3 of 7
-- Page 2: Payment 4 of 7
-- Page 3: Reminder for the patient to schedule a regular dental checkup, which takes up two coupon spaces
-- Page 4: Payment 5 of 7

 

The last coupon on each page goes as follows:

-- Page 1: Payment 6 of 7
-- Page 2: Payment 7 of 7 (final payment)


We are occasionally asked why the coupon books are not arranged with the first, second and third coupons on the first page, and so on. The implemented design is based on industry standards.
