Question:

How are insurance plans marked as "ECS Capable"?

Answer:

The option to make insurance plans ECS capable is an individual option on each separate insurance plan. There is no utility that will set all insurance plans as "ECS Capable"

The following steps should be taken to make an insurance plan ECS compatible. ECS Capable Primary, Secondary, or Preauthorization is not selectable.

Enabling ECS Capability

1. Click List in the main menu bar.
2. Select Ins. Plan.
3. Double-click on the insurance plan in the list.
4. Select the Claim Filing tab.
5. Place a check in the boxes labeled "ECS Capable Primary, ECS Capable Secondary, and ECS Capable Preauth"
6. Click OK to save the changes.

If the ECS Capable Options are Grayed Out

If the "ECS Capable Primary, Secondary, and Preauth" are grayed out it will be necessary to enter a Payer ID within the insurance plan's insurance company's information.

1. Click List in the main menu bar.
2. Select Ins. Plan.
3. Double-click on the insurance plan in the list.
4. Under the "Associated IDs" field click the drop-down arrow for "Insurance Co:".
5. Double-click the highlighted insurance company. The associated insurance company will be displayed.
6. Enter the correct Payer Type, Payer ID, and Provider/Prac ID in for the insurance company and click OK.
7. Click Close.
8. Click Close when the insurance company list is displayed. The previously selected insurance plan information is displayed.
9. Select the red "Claim Filing" tab.
10. Click Edit and the "ECS Capable Primary, ECS Capable Secondary, and ECS Capable Preauth" fields will become selectable.
