First you will want to make sure your system is set to allow assignment of patients to assistants.
1. Go to Functions, Maintenance / Setup, System Maintenance.
2. Click "System Options".
3. On the next screen, under "System Options" on the left, make sure that "Assign Assistant to Patient" is checked.
4. Restart Orthotrac for the change to take effect.
This will enable an "Assistant" field on the patient's main information screen. Once this is enabled, you can then choose the assistant for any given patient.
Thanks prcarter! I have done this now. When a patient calls in to scheduled an appointment what is an easy way to find out who their assistant is without having to open the patient chart? We are trying to make this change as easy as possible for everyone. Thanks for your help!!

Unfortunately the only way to find out a patient's assistant is to open their chart, as that information is only recorded on their main information screen or the Charting (treatment card) screen. You can run a report to find out patients by assistant, and I can let you know how to do that if necessary, but that would mean you would have to print out the list and keep it handy, so that is not likely to be of use either.
If you can let me know why you need to know this information when scheduling a patient's appointment, then perhaps I can provide alternate suggestions. The assistant assigned to the patient will automatically be added to the appointment when it is scheduled, displayed in patient flow when that appointment loads for the day, shown in Charting for any entries made for that appointment, and so on.
I'm not wanting to know the assistant that work with them at their last appointment, I would like to know the assistant that they are assigned to. This is hard to explain over email is the a number where I can call you to try and work on this?
