We have been trying to eliminate having more than one appointment for a single patient at a time. Now we are running into the issue of having combined the pano/retie into one appointment, but since we open the patient's chart on two different computers, it didn't record the notes at the end. More detail: patient checks in, their digital chart is opened on their chair computer and it is noted they need a pano. They are then taken to the pano machine which has it's own computer and they are brought up on that computer (which is the only computer that the xray machine is linked to and has to be used to take the xray). When the xray is done, the assistant has to 'Save and Close'. They finish the appointment and then when the assistant made notes at the end of the appointment on the initial chair computer, tried to save and close, but nothing showed up.
There has to be a better way to do that- any ideas?
Good afternoon! I know that can be frustrating!
When the patient is brought to the x-ray - does the original staff member with the chart up close out? If not, I would suggest they close out of the chart, x-ray looks up the patient in patient look up - takes pan and saves image. Original chair re-opens chart, finishes workup on patient, writes up chart, posts all procedure codes - next visit and closes out.
