Option for Gender X instead of exclusively Male or Female in the chart?

Jump to solution

Is there an option for a patient to be Gender X instead of exclusively Male or Female in the chart?

Gender X encompasses not being exclusively male or female, including, but not limited to, intersex, agender, amalgagender, androgynous, bigender, demigender, female-to-male, genderfluid, genderqueer, male-to-female, neutrois, nonbinary, pangender, third sex, transgender, transsexual, Two Spirit, and unspecified

For letters instead of converting male/female to he/she gender x would convert to they/them

For prefix we will need Mx which is also considered gender neutral.

These options should apply to both patients and responsible parties

Some states are in the process of adding gender x to legal identification cards and paperwork. It would be appropriate for dental records to match

Thank you

Good day Savannah  ( @salanger ),

We do not currently have a timeline for adding this requested feature.  Although Development has already been notified of this, might I also suggest that you post your enhancement requests in the new Product Ideas section of our site? The Product Ideas section can be reached by clicking the Practice Management pull-down on the toolbar at the top, then selecting "Practice Ideas" at the bottom. A direct link is also available here:

https://community.carestreamdental.com/t5/PRODUCT-IDEAS/idb-p/practicemanagementideas

The Product Ideas section is closely monitored by management and popular ideas can also be voted on by the community.  The more traffic and comments an idea receives, the more likely it is to be implemented sooner.

I am re-tagging Uriyah as well to ensure he is aware of your continued interest in this feature.  @uriyahrobinson , please see above.

Regards,

Phil Carter / OrthoTrac Escalations

Savannah, thanks so much for this information. Unfortunately, there is currently not an option for Gender X in a patient's chart or letters.  I will forward this information on to the appropriate team for consideration in a future update of the software. Tagging uriyahrobinson , OrthoTrac PLM.

Can you please let me know when this will be an option? Birth certificates and drivers license both offer a non binary option. Legally, we need our records to match. This cannot be something Carestream pushes to the back burner. Please update me, Thank you.

Thank you. I have added the "request" to practice ideas. I cannot stress enough that it is not an option to have this feature, it is a requirement for our office to have it
