Pt Gender

Good Morning~

We have many patients who do not fall into traditional male/female gender specifications and others who began treatment as one gender and are now transitioning or identifying as another or a non-binary gender. Due to insurance claim forms we have not been changing the original gender in Orthotrac but have been putting a Medical Alert in the system and/or Comment that states "Felix identifies as X (non-binary)--please use they/them pronouns." Would you consider having an option X in addition to traditional M/F in the Patient Gender choices as well as options to use the preferred pronouns in communications? We wish to be respectful to all of our patients and these  changes would be a good start.

Thank you for the suggestion! The good news is that we have had this product enhancement suggested before. I highly recommend you add your own comments and kudos on the relevant thread, here in the Product Ideas forum:  Option for a patient to be Gender X instead of exclusively Male or Female in the chart  

In future, may I suggest that you post your other enhancement requests in that same Product Ideas section of our site? It can be reached by clicking the Practice Management pull-down on the toolbar at the top, then selecting "Product Ideas" at the bottom. A direct link is also available here:
