Good day Heather ( @bracemom35 ),

Object types are a function of Imaging, but yes, you can add a new object type in one of two ways.

Adding Object Type Through "Scan" Function in Patient Tracking

1.  Open patient tracking for any patient

2.  Click the Scan Document link at the top.

3.  Click the "New" button.

4.  Choose a name for the new object type and choose "PDF" to select the PDF type.

5.  Click OK to save the change.

The object type will then be available for scans or to import files manually by clicking the "Scan Document" link in Patient Tracking and then clicking the "Browse" button to browse to the file location.

Adding Object Type Through CSOI Object Types Editor

  1. From Windows Start Menu, browse to All Programs > CS Orthodontic/OMS Imaging > Object Types Editor    (NOTE:  Cloud clients may have it listed in a different folder, but the Object Types Editor itself is named the same)

  2. In Menu use the drop-down to see if object type is already created in "Existing Image Types"

  3. If you do not see appropriate object type listed, (1) click Add Type, (2) type in a UNIQUE name for the new type in the field and select the appropriate type, then (3) click Apply.

    • Visit is for Title of new visits
    • Bitmap is for any image file (jpg, bitmap, tiff, png, etc)
    • Word is only for Microsoft Word documents
    • Document is only for PDF files
    • Other is for any file type that has a 3rd party software associated with that you would like to open outside the imaging program.
  4. Add any additional types needed then press Finished
  5. Restart Imaging and new object type should be available to import.
