Is there anywhere on the chart that it will show and alert the Dr. and hygienist that the patient has a pacemaker? - like the Rx for when a patient needs to take a prescription. thank you Brenda

Brenda,
The Medical Alerts function in the program should be able to do what you need. If you currently have other Medical Alerts setup in your system, it will just be as easy as going to page 2 of a patient's clipboard and adding in a new alert type called pace maker and adding it to that patient. The alert will then pop up any time your other Medical Alerts already pop up.
Follow these steps to add a new type of Medical Alert:
1.On the clipboard, click Page 2 > Select > Define/Edit Alerts > Add.
2.On the “Medical Alert Definition” screen, enter the new type of alert.
3.Click OK to save the change.
4.The new option will now appear on the Medical Alerts Pick List for all patients and can be selected from the list when needed.
Also, once added to page 2 of a patient's clipboard, it will show on the right side of the their chart as well.
If there are other system events you'd like to have a message display Medical Alerts, like creating appointments, appointment check in or when launching the charting module for example, an autolink can be setup for that event.
We do exactly as Robert Angus indicated on the patient's clipboard, but we also go a step further for our clinical staff. We create an alert in the patient's charting module that will pop-up to state that the patient has a pacemaker.
how do you create the alert?
Hello,
Yes, you can use the notes to put an alert on the patient using the notes, and this would pop up when you open the Chart.
However, you can also make it so that you can create a system event, that when the chart is opened (for anyone), it'll pop up a display message listing the medical alerts from page 2.
To do this, follow these instructions:
1. Click Experts.
2. Click Automation Expert.
3. Click Events.
4. Click System Events.
5. Select Event Type "Charting" and the Event by the name of "Start Charting".
6. Select Define Autolinks.
7. Select Add.
8. Highlight the option Display A Message and select OK.
9. Highlight the option Medical Alerts Warning, and select OK.
10. Select No, Always Respond Without Asking.
11. Select When Task is first Started.
12. Under Must Be All Of These, put a check in the check-box next to the criteria option of With Medical Alerts.
13. Select OK to exit the Criteria Screen.
14. Select OK to exit the Autolink Window.
15. Select OK to exit the Current Autolinks window.
16. Exit the System Events window.
17. To verify the system is working correctly, open the Chart of a Patient who has a Medical Alerts.
The Medical Alerts Warning message should already exist within the message list. if it does not though, this is what it should contain if you define a new one.
"
WARNING!!! WARNING!!! WARNING!!!
<FirstName> <LastName> has the following medical alerts:
<MedAlert>
"
The variables for <FirstName>, <LastName>, and <MedAlert> can be found on the variable list on the right of the message definition window.
We'd be more then happy to assist with getting this set up for you if you'd like.
Good morning! Access the patient's Charting Module and create a note (Empty Note). Once you've completed your note summary, check the Alert box in the lower left corner. It will then be an alert that pops up every time you open the patient's charting module. Hope I've explained it correctly!
