E-Prescription Done By Issue

I'd call support for this but the eprescription have rarely been helpful.

We are seeing the wrong employee initials in the prescription history (see attached). It lists an Inactive Employee rather than the employee's initials who submitted the e-prescription.  I've noticed this happening with the majority but not all eprescriptions.

It doesn't happen with printed prescriptions.

Is there a step that we are missing?

You are actually the second office i've run into this issue over the last two weeks.  I've sent the case for the other office up and it's going to be brought up to Development.  I'll update you once I hear something back.

@joedindo

I had a positive change from what I did with that other office.

The eRX module links to the producers using the registered NPI number. For this office we removed the NPI number from the inactive producer and it no longer used them for the done by entry.

I would suggest that if there are any other potential inactive producers with that NPI on their profile that those be cleared as well.

I have a potential lead I need to try. I was out of the office last week so I couldn't reach out to the other office and test to confirm.  I plan to do that today. I will let you know how it goes and if it works, what that solution is.

Good catch!  I went ahead and cleared out the NPI from the two inactive producers that it was on.  We will keep an eye on it and see how it goes. Feel free to reach out in a few weeks to follow up.

@jdowner we have partial success but maybe full success?  What it's doing now is showing the Doctor's initials regardless of who is going through the steps of issuing the e-prescription.  It would be desirable that it shows the person who is logged in instead. What would it take to make that happen?

That would be as designed at that point.  Even when it's a paper prescription that gets posted, it's going to pick the prescribing Doctor that is chosen in the prescription screen as the "Done by" provider.

If you are wanting to track which user is logged into PracticeWorks on the machine the Prescription is entered on, the security/audit log tracking can enter the events for adding a prescription and it will attribute the event to the user that's logged into PracticeWorks at the time.

The prescription audit log events can be seen specifically for the patient on their clipboard audit log or in the general security/audit log.

Got it.  Makes perfect sense since it's the doctor who has the dea...
