Light gray box around random tooth attaches notes...

Jump to solution

The light gray box, circled in purple, has started showing up around randomly  when we open some charts but not all. The specific tooth it selects appears to be random. The problem we are having is there is no way to "unselect" the tooth and all clinical notes then attach themselves to that specific tooth. Once the notes are complete, we are able to manually reopen the them and change the settings to "entire mouth". Is this user error, system error or a setting we have inadvertently activated?

Laura,

On the right side of your chart there is a check box for "Set area to admin records". Selecting this box will resolve the issue you are having. In addition, if you don't want a note to go to a specific tooth or admin records, you can also set it to go to a specific area of the mouth by clicking on the abbreviation for that area just above the "Set area to admin records" check box.

I hope this helps and thank you for reaching out to us.

Thank you, your tip seems to resolve the problem.

Out of curiosity though, if you have any insight on why this happens spontaneously and at random, I would love to know. There seems to be no rhyme or reason to which patients and at which times the systems deems this necessary.

Thank you again for your assistance.

I've done some testing with the fake patients I have in my database and I'm getting the same results. It seems to randomly select a tooth on some patients, though I haven't been able to figure out why. I will look into it further, but for now I don't have a solid answer for you. In the meantime selecting the "Set Area to Admin records" option should do the trick.

Thank you for taking the time to look into the problem. I appreciate your help. For now, we will continue to use your tip.
