I would like the ability to write patient notes without always having to open the chart.

It is actually possible to do this by adding an autolink option to the action button on clipboards. This will allow you to open the patient's clipboard, Click Actions, then select the note in the list of autolinked items.  You would have to create a separate autolink for each note you typically use.

To create the autolink for a form or note:

  1. Right click on Actions
  2. Click Define Autolinks
  3. Click Add
  4. Click Add form to patient or Add note to patient
  5. Select desired Note or Form
  6. Click OK
  7. Determine if this response is optional. Does it need to be displayed instantly, or as one of several options?
    1. Typically on the clipboard you always want the item to be marked as optional.
  8. Define parameters: Filter to include or exclude patients and other parties.
    1. Typically on the clipboard, you do not need to define any additional parameters.
  9. Click OK
    1. If no additional Parameters were chosen, a message will pop up that says "You did not select a context for this response. It will ALWAYS occur for this event. is this what you want?"  You will choose Yes to continue.

This will link that note to the action button on all clipboards.

To use the note all you would need to do it go into the patient's clipboard, click on the Action button, and choose the needed note from the list of autolinked items.
