I am wondering if there is a way in Practiceworks to reprint a walkout statement from a previous date.
I define a Code (9998) for Print Statement and make the abbreviation PRINT. Code type: Dental tx code. Tx Class: Miscellaneous. Description "Print Acc Statement". Supplementary information: Check in: Do not submit to insurance.
When yo need Statement select Ledger, Add entry, select the patient, an select in description PRINT, OBSERVE: Check the Option "Print walkout statement" . Select OK . In the new window "Print and Submit Options" select the date you need to start showing in your statement. Select OK. If you want make a correction in "Ledger" and delete the entry.
Thank you Hector! I just tried it and it worked! Just wish there was an easier way....
Hi Sarah,
Johnathan has answered the question (thanks johnathan.d!). I'm curious about the circumstances that lead to needing a print out of an older statement? Is a patient inquiring about their balance or account details? If you were able to print a statement from the past would you expect it to be an exact copy of the statement from that time or would it include updates if, for instance, an entry was backdated and now falls into the statement time frame?
vintagedental would love to get your feedback on this also.
I know that you asked the question of Sarah, but I'd like to jump in here. This goes along the same lines as being able to reprint a previous mail statement, so that when a patient calls with a question, you can see exactly what they are looking at.
I know there have been times when a patient has paid with their HSA or FSA card and at the time pf payment I ask if they want an itemized walk out statement (I always encourage them to take one - especially FSA accounts). But typically 50% of patients refuse one and then I get a call a week later because FSA is requesting additional, detailed information regarding date of service, services provided and related charges as well as who the patient was, our practice information and payment information. I have to send them a printed account history and some call back and ask for an actual statement or more "official" looking document. I can't print an actual statement if there's a zero balance. Thus it would be nice to be able to go back and print a walk out statement for that prior date.
Jean, you can print a statement if there is a zero balance - even if you have "print zero balances" unchecked in your statement setup.
How? I have tried every way I know possible to print an itemized statement that looks like an actual statement (and not a ledger history). I keep getting a statement with zero balance and no details. This is what I need: a statement that shows patient name, dates of service, procedures, charges, insurance payments and patient payments and that with show all these things from December 13, 2017 to the final account activity on February 12, 2018. I'm trying to print one off but I think since the balance is zero it won't give me the detailed break down. The patient paid at the time of her appointment and since everything estimated correctly, an actual statement was never generated. Now of course she needs an itemized and detailed statement for FSA re-reimbursement and FSA keeps rejecting the ledger history print out.
You can print a NEW statement (even if there is a $0 balance), but you can't RE-print a previous statement. That is what we do for patients who call needing "documentation" for their flex/hsa accounts. Right-click in any large white area of the clipboard, select "prep and print new statement" (or "reprint last statement", although it might not give you exactly what was on the last statement, depending on the circumstances). Then enter the beginning date of the services needed, and that should get you what you want. If not, you might need to look at your statement setup.
I tried that too - it still won't print anything on the statement. Only show zero balance - no details...
That is bizarre.
Actually - I just tried Hector's suggestion from below - it worked. But I really wish there was an easier way?
Hello Sarah
Unfortunately no, there is not a way to reprint a walk out statement from a previous date
There is a change request already submitted for this though.
Johnathan
Okay, thanks for your reply Jonathan! The only way I can come up with something similar is to print out an account history report and modify the date range to only include a specific date of service. Hopefully the change will happen.
Have a great afternoon
Sarah, if you go into the clipboard and right click on the icon below "view" (near address bar) it'll give you the option to re-print the most recent statement.
This option will only print out for the last mail-out statement. It uses the green entry on the ledger to determine the 'last' statement, depending on the date entered. The checkout/Walkout statements do not generate green entries on the ledger.
Does it not give you the option for the date to print? It will show today's date butt it can be changed. I use that to reprint.
Yes. I can change the date. I enter the December date I need but I still get the same thing.
