Remove the "Post write off at time of service" box on the PATIENTS insurance tab. As it is right now, the box is somewhat useless due to many patients having Dual Coverage. Of course, this is a problem if the Secondary plan has the lower allowable if there is zero adjustment to item for Primary, and of course, could cause issues due to the patient relationship.
Solution Suggestion: SD should create two indicator boxes on the patient insurance tab window. One box would be Adjustment Elector. This Adjustment Elector would allow the practice to select which plan to configure contractual adjustments. The Second box would ask the practice if they wanted to post the adjustment at the time of service.
Reason for Idea: Insurance is no longer the same. Many patients now have dual coverage due to age limits, extended families, divorced families, Actively employed Retired persons, married persons eligible for coverage under parents plan, etc. We would need both boxes. I suggest to practices to NEVER post adjustments for dual covered patients until ALL plan payments have been returned.
