PracticeWorks: Creating a Custom or User Defined Contact Expert

Contact Experts enable you to automate your communications with patients, insurance companies, and labs. PracticeWorks software provides you with several ready-to-use Contact Experts described in the section entitled Using the Contact Experts.

The User Defined Contact Expert feature enables you to define new Contact Experts for your own specific uses. You can set up User Defined Contact Experts to search for almost any information you have stored in the PracticeWorks software. You define the search criteria, and decide what information is displayed in each column of the results.

Setting up a User-Defined Contact Expert requires knowledge and understanding of PracticeScript, a programming language used in the PracticeWorks software.

To use PracticeScript to define new Contact Experts for your practice, follow these steps:

1.   From the Experts menu, select Contact Expert > User defined... The User Defined Contact Expert Pick List is displayed.

2.   Click Add. The User Defined Contact Expert Definition window is displayed.

3.   In the Description field, type the name of the new Contact Expert.

4.   In the Based on data from field, use the drop-down list to select the type of data you want to use in the Contact Expert.

5.   In the Type of contact to associate with this Expert field, use the drop-down list to select the type of Contact Expert you want to create.

6.   Next to Include every record that matches, click Formula. The Include all records that match... window is displayed

7.   Select from the available Fields, Functions, and Operators to create the Formula for the Contact Expert.

  • Note: If the data fields do not include the data that you want to use, click Cancel to return to the User Defined Contact Expert Definition window. Change your selection in the Based on data from list, and then click Formula again.

8.   When you have finished building the formula, click OK. A message is displayed if the syntax is incorrect, and you can try again. When the syntax is valid, you are returned to the User Defined Contact Expert Definition window.

9.   Add, remove, or edit columns by using the buttons at the bottom of the window.

10.  Click OK. The new expert is added to the User Defined Contact Expert Pick List.

Can someone help with a formula.  I would like to identify all responsible parties that have been active for the past 2 years.  I will be mailing them a letter.

Hello

I should be able to assist in making that report as well.  However, just so you are aware on how it would need to work, We don't have the ability to track when a clipboard/profile is marked active or inactive.  We can only base this kind of information on when that patient had an appointment during the desired date range. So, if the responsible party is not an actual patient, having had no appointments themselves, we cannot track them as having been active. But we can base being "active" on their dependent's visits.

If you can send me a direct message by clicking on the mail icon at the top right of the page by your profile Icon. Click on New message and type my user name in for the receiver. I'd just need your account phone number so I can open a ticket and give you a call.
