Changing Recall Settings

Good Morning

We have always had our Recall Settings set to Manual and now wish to change it to Automatic Variable.  Are we okay to change this or will it affect anything within the R4 database?

Hi Emma,

There is no issue in changing your recall settings to Automatic Variable but there are a couple of other things to check when you do this to make sure that the new settings are applied to all of your patients.

Firstly, if you have different recall settings per scheme then make sure that you change it for all schemes (this is the tick box in the top left-hand corner of the Recall settings screen).

Secondly, make sure that you have the correct Recall Basis option selected for your requirements.  We usually recommend that the Examination treatment option is the one that is selected as this will then set the patient's recall date at x months after they had their last examination treatment (treatment code 101, etc).

Thirdly once you have made the changes, make sure that you run the Recalculate Recall Information so that the new settings are applied to all of your patients.  Depending upon the changes that you make to the Recall settings screen, it may give you the option to run this when you apply the changes.  If not , or if you want to run it at a more convenient time, then you can access this option from the Utilities menu on the Main Screen.  Depending upon the number of patients you have on your system it may take a while to run so you may want to run it over lunch time or at the end of the day.
