Clinical data set and the BSA

Hi

The BSA has indicated that it will be more strict when it comes to the clinical data set on the FP17.

At the momnet most of the codes match the correct UDA banding. 

However there are at least three codes that do not.

One is appliances 2991, the other is code 1011 perio. Also denture repair does not match with the BSA.

The first do do not generate the correct band for the BSA clinical data set.

I was wondering if there was going to be an update to sort out the problem.

At the moment no action is being taken but some codes defiantly don't match the clinical data set.

Ok,

I've had a chance to look at your examples in more detail against the changes issued in v8.1.12 and above.

• For Appliances (2991) this is a UDA Charge Band 3, The NHSBSA were unable to provide any DPB to CDS mapping data as they have not used DPB Codes in many years hence we are unable to calculate accurate mapping so it defaults to CDS "Other" based on the Transmission rules which in turn sets CDS Band 1 initially. If you are expecting this to submit as either 9376 or 9377 you need to manually set as needed on the CDS - User Determined Values subtab if you set this, the CDS Band will notify as Band 3 accordingly. This tab was added to cater for CDS options that require manual input or those that need manual input due to the lack of NHSBSA guidance.
• For DPB Code 1011 (Perio) which is configured as a UDA Charge Band 2 treatment, when used this sets Advanced Perio RSD (9339) in the FP17 which in turn aligns with CDS Band 2, this matches on the published PDF and the Supplier Documentation we were given.
• Denture Repairs are its own Treatment Category in FP17 Submissions which doesn't align to any normal CDS grouping, which is why the UDA Charge Band will show the Text "Denture Repair" worth 1 UDA instead of a normal banding, this is still the case in the current submission rules from the NHSBSA. This message type is transmitted as Code 9154 automatically and as it doesn't fall into known CDS groupings it assumes a default as "Other" which is the expected behaviour for FP17 transmissions which fall outside of the known groups. Being classed as "Other" means the CDS Banding shows as 1 initially which matches between the published PDF and the Supplier Documentation we have as well.

Hi,

Can you clarify the guidance you have been given is definately for the "existing" UDA (Charge) Banding of these treatments and not the "new" CDS (Validation) Banding.

These are different in some cases, can you also supply the guidance you've been given so we can check against what we have been supplied.
