Treatment under guarantee

Hello

Recently when we mark a filling as 'treatment under guarantee', it not only gives the filling as free of charge but the exam as well.

In the past if we did an exam in that course of treatment there would be  a band 1 charge only. If there was no exam due then obviously there would be a nil charge.

My understanding is that only the filling should be free?

I'm confused which is correct?

Thanks

Hi,

The current BSA guidance states that If a guaranteed item is provided as part of a Band 2 or Band 3 course of treatment, and the examination and guaranteed item were the only treatment required/provided, there there would be no charge to the patient, and 3 UDAs for a Band 2 claim or 12 UDAs for a Band 3 claim would be credited.

A document with full details regarding Guaranteed treatment and continuation/further treatment can be downloaded from the NHS Business Services Authority website

Regards

Stephen
