Triaging for private patients and NHS patients with multiple appointments

Hi

Is there need to be creating a triage only claim for patients seen privately?

Also for NHS patients with multiple appointments how exactly do we complete the triaging info?

If we have lets say triaged them 2ce for each appointment (once over the phone and once when they attend) and they ve been in 4 times, do we enter 8 in the appropriate box? And if 2 boxes are to be selected, do we enter the same number in both?

Thanks

Thank you for your post.

We implemented these changes at the request of the BSA.  If you have specific questions regarding when they should be completed and how to break down the information that is recorded, we would advise you to contact your area Commissioner who should be able to provide you with this information on behalf of the NHS.

Regards

Stephen

Have these issues not been discussed with BSA when R4 was developing the update? Seems to me like there is an update without proper explanations and since the update is within R4, Carestream should be able to support questions like that

As with any changes that are requested by the BSA, we are provided with the technical details of what is required and, if applicable, the format for any information that is to be transmitted to them.  These changes are then incorporated into CS R4 in order to allow practices to meet the requirements of the BSA and NHS.

With regards to Triage data, we can provide you with help on how to complete a Triage Only (Band 6) claim form or complete the Triage data on a normal FP17 claim form and a handout can be found here (https://community.carestreamdental.com/t5/R4-Documentation/Submitting-Triage-Reporting-Data-using-CS...)

However, as we are not part of the NHS or the BSA, we cannot provide you with any help or advice on what data has to be included.  If you require clarification on what data has to be included or which patient types have to be included then you will need to speak with your regional Commissioner or the BSA who will be able to refer to their guidelines and provide you with the necessary information.

Hi
I was just on the phone with BSA and they did not have a clue how we re supposed to complete the triaging tabs on R4. They said we should get in touch with Carestream. it is very unfortunate this is happening, CAN SOMEONE PLEASE ANSWER THE ABOVE QUESTIONS WITHOUT TRYING TO DEFER TO BSA WHO DO NOT KNOW? Thanks

As referenced in the previous reply, we have produced a handout that explains how to fill in the Triage Only claim form and the Triage Data on a normal FP17 claim form within CS R4 and I have attached a copy of this handout to this reply for your information.

Regarding the two specific questions that you asked:

Is there a need to be creating a triage only claim for patients seen privately?  We cannot tell you which patients require triage only data to be recorded for.  This is a question that must be directed to the BSA as this relates to The Coronavirus Act 2020 and special regulations from the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care which legally allows them to gather this data.  Here is a link to the Compass COVID-19 triage form for Mandatory Dental Services - England Only on the NHSBSA website (https://www.nhsbsa.nhs.uk/sites/default/files/2020-11/Triage_Form_FAQ_V5.1_20201127.pdf) which provides further information about when a COVID-19 triage form should be completed.

Also for NHS patients with multiple appointments how exactly do we complete the triaging info?  As shown on the Triage tab on the Claim form ‘The following items record the patient’s COVID status and the number of COVID triage assessments occurring during the course of treatment.’  Therefore, if the patient has been triaged 8 times during a course of treatment, the patient’s status at each assessment is recorded so that the total equals the number of assessments completed.

If you have any further questions regarding this matter then please message me directly
