cancelling appts

Hi, when I cancel a patient instead of removing the appointment it just puts a X in the appointment status box but doesnt remove the appointment so I cannot book anyone else in, any advice how to amend this as only happening on 1 machine.

Good Afternoon
The x is showing because you have got "Show Late Cancelations" selected in the Options in the menu bar at the top of the screen - untick this as=nd the late cancellations will disappear and you can rebook the space.
