I put an new SSD in my computer and installed WIn10. Doing the install of Softdent keeps failing with an error about not having access to MSXML3.dll
The file c:\windows\system32\msxml3.dll could not be opened. Please check to see if the disk is full and you ahve access to the destination directory. Access is denied.
I am signed in with the domain admin login on a Windows active directory domain.
I was somehow able to get it installed properly on another pc in the same fashion. I though I just needed the .net redist installed.
Any help is appreciated.
I am on version 16.1
Had the same issue on several new installations. Try the following from an elevated command prompt while logged in with an account having local administrative privileges:
takeown /F c:\windows\system32\msxml3.dll /A
takeown /F c:\windows\system32\msxml3r.dll /A
takeown /F c:\windows\syswow64\msxml3.dll /A
takeown /F c:\windows\syswow64\msxml3r.dll /A
cacls c:\windows\system32\msxml3.dll /e /g administrators:f
cacls c:\windows\system32\msxml3r.dll /e /g administrators:f
cacls c:\windows\syswow64\msxml3.dll /e /g administrators:f
cacls c:\windows\syswow64\msxml3r.dll /e /g administrators:f
This was provided to me by the installation team as a "fix", hope it helps!
I did just end up running the install as the Domain Administrator account which solved the install problem.
Thanks for providing another option to the community.
