Major Update on SoftDent Version 17

Good afternoon SoftDent community!

As I write this, the SoftDent development team is diligently working on SoftDent v17. We also chose to tackle a major workflow issue; record locking. In practical terms, this means you will be able to have more than one user in a patient’s record at the same time!

We're looking forward to getting version 17 out before the end of the year. If your practice wants access to this functionality early, consider being a beta tester.

Our initial tests will be with non-Scheduler, multi-user database customers, followed by Scheduler and client/server beta approximately a month later.

If you would like to be a beta customers please reply below. A member of the SoftDent team will reach out to you with more details. There are a limited number of spots and we will keep this post updated once they are full.

Questions re: version 17

1) Will the overtime issue be fixed on the timesheet? It only shows up when printed individually not as a group.

2) Where you able to change how the per hour report (Register) is figured out?  It is figured from the providers set hours not the time card so it is not accurate.

Thank you

Beth,

These two items were not addressed in this initial V17 release.

Changing the system to allow multiple users in a patient or account has been a tremendous (and successful!) effort. There were a number of items we wanted to see make it in to the first v17 release. In order to have a quality, timely release these other items had to be delayed for a future release. We'll keep you posted.

Hello -

An FYI - for those of you who have not had the experience of doing beta testing before ...

You might want to pass on being on the front end of the beta cycle.  Typically those offices on the front line (first beta out) have some of the more "challenging" issues.  Sometimes those issues have nothing to do (seemingly) with the tasks and updates the beta cycle is testing.  Once those are worked out and future beta releases are produced, it is much more pleasant and much less stressful for doctors and team members alike as the builds develop.

We're all hoping for a stress free beta cycle with Softdent version 17 - but ..... this is software technology and sometimes it can be a little crazy.

Yes! We are currently on version 16.2.8 on the cloud. We have been on softdent since version 6 I believe and are currently in the process of converting to chartless so I am very excited to see the new updates that are in the works for the charting module!  Now if we can get a few more 3rd party integrations going, we would be in some business!!

Tagging lontaylor‌. Do you have any specific 3rd party integrations already in mind?

Apteryx is a system we use for our xrays. The program is called XRAY Vision.  It had a bridge that we used for the client/server based softdent, but when we moved to the cloud based, we lost that bridge.  I would like to be able to use carestream imaging with our current sensors (Gendex) and poanorex (Schick).  Eform integration is also something I would love to see, we currently use PBHS that does not integrate with Softdent, but would happily use the Softdent e-forms if there was a way to make it work in the cloud.  I would love to see an integration with Practice Mojo for the cloud as well. We used to use them for reminder services, but had to stop after we converted to the cloud.

I will follow up with you when the Client Server beta is rolled out. We anticipate that will be late October, early November.

Thanks!

Jeremy,

I think our office meets your criteria for best testers. In support of the changes you are developing, we would like to help. I do have some questions, so feel free to contact me.
