How do other offices handle multiple patients with the same name?
On the physical chart, we have "name alert" sticker on both charts with the date of birth handwritten on it.
In the Patient List window in SoftDent V17, we can't see the date of birth. We have to open up each account to verify the date of birth. When a patient calls to schedule an appointment, there's nothing in SoftDent to alert us that we have more than one patient with the same name. We've resorted to *always* verifying the date of birth.
Is there a better way to do this?
If you enter the date of birth in the nick name field along with the patient’s name it will show on the patient list. Example: David 12/15/85
On the appointment card you could enter the date of birth in the appt note field. This will place a red triangle on the upper right corner of the appointment. When you place your mouse on the triangle the note will display with the date of birth.
You can create a team talk for each patient with their date birth. Select the actions that require the DOB to be displayed. So, each time you perform that action the team talk note will appear with the date of birth.
