One of the purposes of using cloud is to allow offices with multi location to access same database simultaneously, for softdent cloud it doesn't matter where you are located as log as you have internet access
the only problem that you might face that site 2 cannot access newly acquired images in site 1 if there was latency in uploading images for site 1 , other than that all other data are saved immediately to our servers allowing other locations to access it immediately
From what I understand there is 2 ways of doing multi-location cloud. We have 4 offices tracking PNL seperate.
1. Have 4 different databases accessable from the internet (location specific). Daysheet would be run for each location/icon to Softdent.
2. Have 4 databases merged into 1. With this the providers would have to have a different provider number for each location so production/collection/daysheet would be run by the different provider numbers.
What we run in to is having patients go to multiple locations and we're having to email/remote drop/drag the patient info. So the merging of databases would be great but then all reporting would have to be done by specific proivders at each location instead of "999."
you're totally right , the first option will eliminate the need for emailing and data transfer between offices as all offices could have access to all data , though they would still be separate ( using different icons is an option ) , so they can view and extract \ print what they want from other offices' patient information.
on the other hand option 2 as you said would require a setup for new providers to distinguish providers per location finance
both options are available it is up to your office to decide which route would suite you better , option 2 sounds more effective on day to day duties for users but it might get a bit tricky to setup and run reports
