I have a patient that became Medicaid eligible but the family has elected to keep her existing dental insurance. We had already put the Medicaid in as primary before we learned that she was keeping the other insurance. I was going to go back and use the old information we had to add the dental insurance back in and now her Medicaid number is showing up on all her completed claims with the insurance company. Shouldn't these completed claims be archived (saved) as they were originality entered?
My opinion is everything should be as it was originally closed out (audit reasons). If the claims have been paid prior to Medicaid I don't understand why the # would be showing up on paid claims .
