Tablet for Softdent

Jump to solution

I am looking to purchase a Windows tablet to use for Softdent patient information input and then in general because I have a Mac and we aren't in the cloud stages of Softdent yet. I don't want to purchase a workstation computer like the dental assistants and hygienist have, but need a Windows device to access Softdent. Does anyone have any information on how much storage the tablet would need etc...and any recommendations? Thanks!

Hello.  Unless you are on SoftDent Cloud (Citrix), the normal tablets will not work.   The Microsoft Surface Pro with the Intel Core i5 or i7 will work.  That's because those tablets are  basically a "PC".   The i5 and i7 ones meet the minimum requirements.  A 128 GB hard drive with 8 GB of RAM will be a good performer.

Oh okay, thank you for that information. We are not on the cloud system, so

I would need something like that. I will check into those Surface tablets.

Are there any other tablet options? The Surfaces seem to be pricey for the

simple things I wanted to be able to have access to such as completing

patient med history, contact info, etc.

You can look into the HP,  Asus, Dell and Lenovo line tablets.    Those companies may have a compatible tablet to the Surface Pro.
