having trouble with voice activation

Anyone else having trouble with the voice module for perio training after the last windows update?

We can no longer train voices, Softdent voice options are greyed out.  Windows voice training has disappeared.

Voice Activation has basically stopped working properly since a lot of offices went to Windows 10. It has to do with the options not being available in Windows Speech Recognition to train a mic without errors. I believe we've had to get office techs to fix that before voice activation can work again in SoftDent. However, a lot of offices have actually stopped using it due to difficulty since Windows 10 became required by HIPAA.

That's so unfortunate.  I hope SoftDent can upgrade the module to make this work for the sake of our hygienists!

The module SHOULD work as long as Windows Speech Recognition functions correctly. This broke for many offices that use the Voice Activation Module when they moved to Windows 10. I would reach out to  whoever supports your hardware/network to see if they can verify if Windows Speech Recognition is functioning correctly. I have personally seen where it does not, and therefore it cannot work in SoftDent as a result.

We can use the voice perio module but we cannot train voices and the perio module spits out 10s when they say 2, etc.  The speech recognition voice training menu is gone.

I guess we will be thankful we can use it at all.

Speculation tells me that Windows is actually being the problem. I would see if your techs can fix Windows Speech Recognition so that you can retrain your voice(s) within SoftDent. Voice training in SoftDent uses Windows Speech Recognition...so if that doesn't work, the it won't work in SoftDent.
