SoftDent: Adding New Accounts from the Scheduler Windows

You can add a new account from the Daily Appointments and Book At A Glance scheduler windows when a new patient calls to schedule an appointment. When the patient arrives for the appointment, enter the remainder of the patient information and activate the new patient and account records.

To add a new patient or account from the Daily Appointments or Book At A Glance windows:

  • Select an option:
    • In the Daily Appointments window:Select a time slot, and select Appoint For New Patient/Account.
    • In the Book At A Glance window:Select a time slot, and select Appoint For New Patient/Account.

The New Patient Appt window is displayed.

  • Type the patient’s name and date of birth. After you enter the patient’s date of birth, the patient age is displayed in the Age field.
  • Select the patient’s doctor from the Doctor drop-down list.
  • Type the patient’s home and work telephone numbers in the appropriate fields.
  • If the new patient was referred to your office by an existing patient or another doctor, select the information from the drop-down lists in the Referral Info section.
  • Select an option:
    • To schedule the patient for an initial exam:  Select Initial Exam. The default initial exam procedural code information is displayed in the Code, Description, T#, Su/Qd, Fee, and Slots fields.
    • To schedule the patient for an emergency exam:  Select Emergency Exam. The default emergency exam procedural code information is displayed in the Code, Description, T#, Su/Qd, Fee, and Slots fields.
    • To schedule the patient for a different exam: Select Other and select a procedural code from the Code drop-down list. The procedural code information is displayed in the Code, Description, T#, Su/Qd, Fee, and Slots fields.
  • Type any notes in the Appt Notes field. These notes are displayed in the Appointment Card window.
  • Type any medical alerts in the Medical Alert field. The patient name is displayed in red text and a red cross is displayed in the Alerts column in the Patient List window. Medical alert information is printed on the Daily Operatory schedule, routing slips, and the Patient Information report.
  • Select an option:
    • To add the new patient to an existing account:  Select the account from the Add patient to an existing account drop-down list.
    • To add additional account information to the new account:  Click Additional Account Info and enter the new account record. After you add the new account, a message is displayed, asking you to activate the new account. Click Yes.

The New Patient Appt window is displayed.

  • Click OK.
  • In the Daily Appointments window, a New icon is displayed next to the appointment. New patients are displayed in the Patient List and Account List windows in fuchsia.

Is there a way to change the phone # options in the New Patient window? Right now the only options are home & work. Most of our patients don't have a home# anymore so we end up having to put the cell# in the home# spot and then move it to the cell# spot once the account has been made. It would be much more efficient to be able to put it directly into the cell#.

Why is this software still asking for a BEEPER number?? No one has a beeper/pager these days unless your an on call Dr!!
