I am wondering who else is having this issue and what do you all do? Are you just printing the claim to paper and sending or have you found another software? This issue has been going on far too long without any updates as to when Carestream is going get with it. I am unable to bill medicare secondary claims because Medicare will only except electronic claims and now I am having the same issue with Dental Blue of MA and they are wanting to know when the problem will be fixed to send the claims electronically. What is everyone's thoughts? I am at the point of looking for a new software who can do what our office needs. We are an Oral Surgeons office and bill to Medical insurance quite often as the same for Dental. There is so much technology out there now and Carestream is just not with it. These insurance companies are starting to become very strict on how you send the claims or what you write on them. Any help with this issue is greatly appreciated. Thanks! Sandra M.

Hi Sheryl, for the most part yes but there are scenarios when a patient forgets they have another insurance and then gives to us after they get a statement in the mail.The patient may only give us one insurance on the phone and then when they come in the office they give us another or the services are dental only so that's who we bill, then we get a notice from the dental ins. requesting us to bill the medical which we didn't put in because the service is not medical or we are non providers. So yes and no, but really it should not matter.. I'm thinking Carestream should fix that part of it if that's what they are going to blame it on.
You should be able to bill secondary claims and medical claims electronically. By default WinOMS defaults secondary claims to paper, but if you have the insurance plan set-up with a Payer ID and to bill electronically you should be able to right-click on the claim , from the Claims Tab, and switch it to an electronic claim.
For dental claims you can attach a copy of the Primary EOB to the claim via NEA Fast Attach. For Medical Claims you can submit the claim electronically, but you will not be able to submit the attachment electronically. You should be able to let them know how you are sending the attachment via a claim remark or by adding a medical ailment to the claim that enables you to specify what type of document you are sending and how you are sending it. You may also be able to attach the Primary's EOB to the insurance company's website directly.

We were told by carestream this is not possible. We have an unbelievable amount of non coordination of benefits with a few of our insurances and Dental Blue(MA) worked with Carestream and Change Healthcare to figure out why and this is what we were told.

I have also been told it can not be done by Carestream, re: secondary medical claim. In order for medical claims to be sent electronically they need to be marked as a secondary claim not a primary one and contain COB info, regardless of the primary EOB being sent via attachment (not currently possible), fax, or uploaded somewhere. I have posted about this previously extensively. If something has changed I would also like to be contacted as we have been pushing for this for years and years as it has been a MN state mandate for a very long time.
