We have three office and are thinking about moving to the WinOMS cloud.
What internet connection and speed are people using? How was the conversion experience ( moving to the cloud)?
Do you have any issues with the internet connection dropping for a split second and the WinOMS program needing to be restarted to continue working?
We have 5 offices moved to the cloud about 2 years ago. At our main 4 offices we have either 50/15mbps or 100/20mbps. At our satellite office we have 10/1. The satellite office runs slow but ok. We knew going into this that could be the case. The other offices run pretty well. Xrays & 3D volumes actually open faster in the cloud. If there would be a short drop of the internet, WinOMS will "freeze" and then resume when connection is back. WinOMS cloud uses Citrix which is pretty good about riding out little drops. We have a low speed backup internet connection that will kick in if our main connection drops completely. I would really recommend this. We may only use the backup a few times a year but has been a life saver when our internet was down for a few hours. The migration process was alot of work but went smooth. We closed at like 10 on a Friday were ready to use WinOMS on Monday. Our old xrays and images trickled in over that first week so that was a pain if you need that old image but after a week they were all there.
I hope this helps.
Let me know if you have more questions.
Hi Rich. We are a 4 office/4 surgeon practice strongly considering making the move. I have spoken with both my IT support team and WinOMS about a lot of things but I would love to hear directly from a user who has gone through the process. Would you be willing to chat some time if I come up with a list of questions?
Michigan Oral Surgeons
Absolutely. Get a list of any questions you might have and I will try my best to answer. We can setup a time next week and talk through the process.
