We do not see a spot for # refills in the Prescriptions screen in WinOMS, is there any setting or place to document this besides hand-writing on the Rx?
I think most offices are doing what Kristina described at the moment. matt.ackerman this is a good enhancement idea
We don't print our Rx's from WinOMS, but it would be great to have a specific place for the refills allowed to be entered. Currently, we list it in the Rx Frequency notes, after the instructions about how often to take the meds.
The following states have the refill option on the formatting:
Go to tables > Practice > Offices > Display All > edit your office info.
Is that formatting change in e-Prescriptions only? It does not seem to affect WinOMS Practice Prescription formatting for the Rx in the EMR tab, even when changing the setting you described above to TX, AL, AZ, or VA. I tried each and logged out each time to allow the change to take effect. The only fields are still Type, Date, Rx, Description, Frequency, Quantity, Provider, Printed; there was no refill indicator.
That's paper Rx, make sure its a brand new Rx you are adding to the patient not one that's waiting to be printed.
Oh, I should have clarified. We're not wanting a place where it can be filled in by hand on the written prescription after it's already printed. Are these providers then scanning the completed Rx back in, so they have a complete record of what was given?
We are wanting a place it can be entered/viewed directly in the EMR tab in WinOMS. With increasing scrutiny of prescription drug abuse, it would be good to have those records as complete as possible. Right now, our only way of preserving that information in the patient's WinOMS chart is to enter the number of refills in the frequency notation.
Ideally, we would also want it to show who added that Rx record to WinOMS, just as it does for the EMR notes. Thank you!
Thanks for the additional information omsnashville. stu or carestreamjoey any additional input on this?
