Deactivating Patient Issue

Has anyone had an issue when trying to deactivate a patient who has a zero balance, no current uncleared claims belonging to them or a dependent's account? When we go to deactivate the patient's profile, it won't let us. Thank you.

What message is it giving you when you attempt to deactivate them?  Is it the one saying they still have open claims?

I'll assume yes since that is the more common message.

As of PracticeWorks v9.1, when the claims list interface was updated the software also started counting old pre-ds as open claims when marking a patient as inactive.

The best method to find these will be to go to the main claims list (Lists > claims list > main claims list), add checks to the boxes for Elec Pre-d and paper pre-d, and then click the  "Filter claims" button.  once it filters, click on the column title for "Patient name" to sort by name and then type in the patient's last name on the search bar at the bottom.  You should hopefully find the open claims, either pre-d or not, and then select them and click the "Clear claim" or "Clear pre-d" on the bottom left.  once all their claims are marked as cleared you should be able to make the clipboard inactive.

That just worked on one patient we tried, but we tried another patient and it wouldn't pull their name up in the claims list at all. The message still says they have an uncleared claim and there is no pre-d in their file either.
