Update v14.0.025 No Private Notes

Jump to solution

We recently updated to v14 and I can't find anywhere to in private notes for just the Doctor or staff to see.  Many times we need to type a detailed message regarding conversations with patient's, other doctor's or specific detail about our patients health or other issues.  The way it's designed now the patient can see every note that is entered.  In my opinion there needs to be a place for privates notes.  Does anyone else have this same issue in regards to the location of the notes in v14?

Good day Regina (redavis‌),

You can set the Notes preview to be hidden in Charting Maintenance:

1.  From the main menu of OrthoTrac, select Functions, Maintenance/Setup, Charting Maintenance.

2.  Place a checkmark in the box for "Hide Notes Preview on Tx Card"

3.  Click OK to save changes.

Now, when you open Charting for a patient, the Notes section will be hidden by default.  Click the eye icon to reveal the hidden information.

Regards,

One suggestion from another office with the same concern is to put *asterisks in a vertical format under the basic treatment notes; this serves as a divider between public and your private notes.

We share this concern as well especially with regards to notes put in regarding financial info. We did what they recommended which is a quick fix but if the assistant/dr reads a note and doesn't close the eye, it will still be visible to the patient. This doesn't seem very patient friendly and perhaps not even HIPPA compliant.

Good day Dalyn (vtortho‌),

Using this setting allows the information to be hidden by default, which should address any issues with that information being visible to patients.  Are you suggesting that the Notes preview should be completely removable from the main Tx Card tab and you should have to click the Notes tab to have it viewable?  You would still have the same issue of the patient being able to see that, just as it was in the original Charting when you clicked on the Notes tab to view the information there.

We might be able to have the "click to view" preview be active only when you click and hold, and the info would then revert back to hidden as soon as you release the mouse button -- but if we did that, then we would have offices complaining that they don't want to hold the mouse button down just to read the preview.

I am tagging uriyahrobinson‌, r.alfieri‌  and  jdickens‌   to allow them to offer additional feedback.
