Will this require touch screen check-in workstations to be replaced in order to read the screen?

Would have been splendid to get this information BEFORE the update was rolled out.  Not a happy camper.

Re: Widescreen monitors recommended for CS OrthoTrac v14

Good day Rob (fmcrt‌),

This post was a bit misleading.  Widescreen monitors are recommended for the best viewing of the new Charting module.  Other modules in OrthoTrac, including the patient flow screens seen by patients on a patient check-in screen, are unchanged, and so no replacements would be necessary for that.  Replacement or new monitors are only necessary for workstations that will be using the new Charting regularly.

Re: Widescreen monitors recommended for CS OrthoTrac v14

Good day Paula (paularyfa‌),

I am sorry you feel you were not properly warned of the requirements for the v14 update.  We did try to notify offices through multiple venues, including posts on the main Carestream Dental website as well as here on the Exchange (for example, this post here:  Carestream Dental announces availability of CS OrthoTrac 14 to improve practice efficiency, performa...   ).

If you have a large number of square monitors which do not meet the minimum requirements, you may want to consider reverting to the original Treatment Card until you can upgrade your chairside (clinical) monitors.  To do so:

1.  From the main menu of OrthoTrac, select Functions, Maintenance/Setup, Charting Maintenance.

2.  Place a checkmark in the box "Use Original TxCard".

3.  Click OK to continue.

This will revert the software to using the original Treatment Card module.  Please note that this setting will affect all workstations in the office.

I am tagging managers uriyahrobinson‌ and r.alfieri‌   in case they would like to speak on this matter further.

Regards,

Phil Carter / Orthotrac Escalations

Re: Widescreen monitors recommended for CS OrthoTrac v14

Hi Phil:

Well most monitors in an active ortho practices are used in the chart module (20+ screens to replace).  Fortunately monitors have never been cheaper, but in some cases it will impact the video card replacement (relatively inexpensive), as well.  We are hopeful our current computers will handle the upgrade, as system requirements are enhanced by v14 with the recent addition of Win 10 operating systems. We have widescreens, but do not meet the 1920 X 1080 "best view" specs.

Thanks for your input along the way Phil. I am sure the enhancements to Orthotrac will be continued steps towards better office organization and patient management.

Rob

Re: Widescreen monitors recommended for CS OrthoTrac v14

Good day Rob (fmcrt‌),

Your PCs may still meet the minimum required (again, the original post is a little misleading).  The *recommended* resolution is 1920x1080  but the new Charting will still display with no issues at a required minimum of 1440x900, which your current PCs may already support.  You may view the System Requirements for more information -- they are located at this link.

OrthoTrac: System Requirements

One last thing to keep in mind is that even PCs which do not meet the absolute minimum requirement of 1440x900 will still be able to display the new Charting, with the caveat that they will display with scrollbars to fit in all the new information.

If you have any other questions, please let us know!

Re: Widescreen monitors recommended for CS OrthoTrac v14

Another question Phil is does the new updated software play better with Adobe DC Reader?

Good day Rob (fmcrt‌),

I have no information on any Adobe-related changes to the software.  I am tagging the OrthoTrac PLM uriyahrobinson‌  and the Development manager r.alfieri‌   to let them answer this.

Re: Widescreen monitors recommended for CS OrthoTrac v14

Our experience today is that on our laptops in the clinical area, the section where you choose which assistant, doctor, or tc does not show up on the laptop screens.  This "line" only shows up on desktop monitors.  It's crucial to have this appear in the clinical environment.  Any suggestions or fixes for this issue?
