Primarily when an insurance company asks for additional information before they can process the claim. But any insurance tracking tool or workflow would be helpful.
I just put a note in the claim contacts. Then when I run "outstanding insurance claims" report, I can see whether or not it is still outstanding and follow up with the insurance company accordingly. I'm not sure if that is what you are looking for.
