How do I fast track to get the new version?

Vera,

I have gone ahead and entered a shipping request to get you the latest version.

When there is a major version release created, meaning going from version 7 to 8 for example, we begin staggered shipments of updates to all of our clients currently on a valid support contract. We stagger these shipments and don't mass send to all clients at once simply to avoid our install team being completely overwhelmed with everyone calling in at once to update.

If someone has not received the latest update yet and would like to be moved up on the shipping list, they can enter their request online here as well.

Do we have to request the new update, or Carestream will automatically send that to us?

I've added you to the ship list. It should go out early next week and arrive in 5 business days or less.

You have listed "fixes", but can anyone tell me what is NEW?  I remember in conversations over the past year or so there were mentions of scheduling changes, along with other items, but I can't find this information anywhere.

Good morning sonyap‌,

8.0.1 is a maintenance release to address defects. Error 25's (for offices that receive them) were particularly troublesome. 8.0.2 will have new functionality (ability to post credit card insurance payments, CDT 2018 codes) and fixes (secondary insurance incorrect on treatment plan proposals).

The big new item incorporated into 8.0 is Line Item Accounting. Clients have requested the ability to post payments directly to procedures for as long as I can remember. Version 8 allows you to do that. In turn you can run detailed yet easy to read payroll reports, along with several payment analysis reports. I've written all about the feature which you can access here. Version 8 also provides a print dialog box so you no longer have to access the PracticeWorks Configuration screen (green screen) to change printers or printer settings.

Please post here or message me directly (via the Exchange or my email, jeremy.uriz@carestream.com) regarding the schedule changes that were mentioned to you, along with other items that are of high importance. If I remember correctly from past conversations, treatment planning is an area you'd like to see major improvements.

Honestly, it was mentioned in a few different conversations over the past year or so - I don't recall the specifics.  I seem to remember someone telling me that scheduling in general was going to receive a major overhaul in version 8.  Yes, we have quite a few changes we'd like to see with treatment plans, but I can't seem to find the website (where other offices could "cast votes" for particular items) where I posted my suggestions for that area along with other items.

Sonya,

You're referring to our plan to replace the entire scheduler. This change was implemented in SoftDent several years ago but unfortunately did not progress after that.

That said, I am looking at modifications we can make to the schedule for widescreen monitors. My goal is to get approval to incorporate these changes into the next release.

Once the development team determines what will be incorporated into the next release I will post on the Exchange and solicit feedback from users such as yourself.

The site you're mentioned is the Idea Exchange and it can be accessed from the customer portal here.

Is there anywhere I can scan in & upload my suggestions from the Idea Exchange, rather than type them all in here?

I'll confer with our Idea Exchange expert on getting this information. You shouldn't have to do anything.
