Is this a module that you're currently licensed for, or are you needing to purchase it?

I'm not sure.  I would think that we are licensed for it - is there a way for me to tell?

There is a way to check, yes.

First you go here:

Then you click on Show License Details:

Then you scroll down on the window that opens up below until you find this line:

A "Y" next to this indicates you are licensed for the Voice Activation module, and an "N" means you are not. If you are not, then your account representative should be contacted to purchase it. If you are licensed for it, then our support team can help you set it up.

Re: Activating voice option for Softdent charting

Thank you, that was very helpful. apparently we are not licensed for it. I'm not sure who our representative is, but I will try to find out. I don't see much in the way of good feedback regarding the voice system. Can you tell me if the softwares are now working together and if this is a worthwhile feature or will I be trying to make something work that is not integrated very well with the current system. Thank you!

Re: Activating voice option for Softdent charting

You're very welcome! I'm glad I could help out.

I would say as long as you use a USB or Analog Headset with a microphone (or even just a microphone) that Windows recognizes, AND your workstation has no problems with Windows Speech Recognition software...it should work. I stress should. Recently with newer versions of SoftDent, we've had report of the Voice module giving some offices trouble due to Windows Speech Recognition failing to launch.

Re: Activating voice option for Softdent charting

FWIW - I've always heard that the voice recognition option in Softdent is dependent on Windows operating system (aka unreliable).  More specifically, for reliability and training, more specifically for training it has to do with your Windows login.  Most setups of Softdent have windows users as "administrator, or supervisor" and all the settings of workstations, user logins, and such are within the Softdent program.  Thus the reliability issue.
