We are excited to share with you the availability of an update to your software that enables you to process VISA refunds in real time from within the ePayments credit card processing service.
Effective October 2019, Visa introduced a new authorization requirement, or mandate, for return transactions (also known as a cardholder refund). Requiring an authorization for a return enables the card issuer to validate the cardholder account, decline potentially fraudulent cards, and minimize chargebacks if the account does not exist or has been closed. This new feature helps protect your business in real time, and your ePayments service has been updated to accommodate this requirement. Note: At this time, return authorizations are provided for Visa transactions only.

These new return authorizations are intended to improve the refund process for offices and patients by:
To enable the return authorization in your practice management software, you must install an update to your software. Please click here for installation instructions. After the update, the return authorizations are automatically enabled so that refunds submitted to Visa will return a response of approved or denied. Note: If you decide not to update your software and a refund is denied, your account ledger will be out of balance and your patient will not be aware that the refund was not issued until their next statement.
