MS Office 2016 - Merge Letters

We have had 2 clients call in today and their Office 2013 updated to office 2016 automatically.  Since the update now the Softdent merge letters no longer function.  Does Softdent plan on fix, Patch or updated version that works with Office 2016?

Thanks

jeffrey.urkevich‌ This is what you and I were discussing the other day. You may be able to provide a clearer response than I can.

Thanks Chris,  Please keep me in the loop.

So far this has happened on 4 machines and 2 offices today for us.

Re: MS Office 2016 - Merge Letters

Our IT person figured it out. I believe on a recent update for Microsoft Office, this created a problem for a merge letters to work. He went in and undid the last update, which was maybe a couple weeks ago, and he also made it so that Microsoft Office will receive no more updates. Once he figured it out it took less than 5 minutes on the second machine. If you reach out to Dusok Henson, he knows what Justin did and he can help you through this, as Dusock  was originally involved in trying to figure this out. When I sent him the information from Justin, he was glad as he said he had two other offices experiencing the same thing.

Re: MS Office 2016 - Merge Letters

Kay,

Thanks for your reply.

I would be glad to reach out to Dusock to see what was done to fix it.  The main problem I have is I have a potential of 100's of computers that this can happen to.  The labor costs of undoing an update of 100's of computers isn't a viable option.  Some of the Office updates  went from 2013 to 2016 so it would be an uninstall of office and then get the original CD and reinstall Office 2013.  The other issue I can potentially see is a security hole in Office that could potentially be a HIPAA violation because the Office updates have been disabled.  Is there any other solutions that you can think of?

Thanks for looking into this for me.

Re: MS Office 2016 - Merge Letters

I contacted our IT person for clarification. When our merge letter issue started happening, that was about 2 weeks ago. And it started happening almost overnight. We have been on Microsoft Office 2016 with no trouble. So what Justin did was he undid the most recent update, since we seem to be fine prior to that time.. The update did not upgrade us from 2013 to 2016, as I said we were already on 2016. He disabled the updates for now until Softdent can get this problem fixed.

Re: MS Office 2016 - Merge Letters

Thank you for the information.  I'll try and remove the latest update for the 2016.  for the few that did go from 2013 to 2016 i'll have to see what else i can try.

Thanks again for your help.

Re: MS Office 2016 - Merge Letters

I checked the computers and there wasn't an update for office 2016.  These went from 2013 to 2016.  The only possible way I can think would be to remove office 2016 adn then put in the cd for 2013 and reinstall.  Is there any other solution that you can think of?

Re: MS Office 2016 - Merge Letters

We, too, have this issue. As an extremely busy Pediatric and Orthondontic specialist office, we use the letter merge 50+ times daily. We NEED to have a better fix as we are not in a position to back track to Microsoft 2013. Nor would we want to go backwards on anything. We did not opt to update, it happened automatically, and we look to these updates for security reasons. We have reached out to our NSP and I have called support as well and requested a manager follow up and call back.
