I am wondering if the courses are free? I tried to log in to view the course catalog but it does not work using the exchange log in information.

The Carestream Dental Institute is available if you are on a monthly support plan. The Exchange and Carestream Dental Institute used to be separate log in's, however, now that single sign-on has been implemented it should have recognized your account. I am checking with the Carestream Dental Institute team to see if they can provide me with more information about that error. I'll update you as soon as I hear back.
Do you know if you have completed a registration for the CDI? If not, you'll see an option to Complete Registration at the top of the CDI window (on the window that opens you'll see Complete Registration again towards the bottom of the sign-in fields.
@smartinez the team said they see your account, but don't see anything with it that should cause an error and asked if you could clear your cache or try a different browser, then try logging in again.
