We are an Orthotrac Cloud practice and are looking to transition from desktop computers to either tablets or laptops. Does anyone have tips for which devices would be best or just general tips for making that transition?
Good day Dr. Markovitz,
Working with Orthotrac Cloud on a laptop would essentially be the same as working with Orthotrac Cloud on a full desktop PC, with one caveat: we do not recommend wireless network connections for PCs which receive heavy use in Cloud. You may use laptop PCs but they should be connected via Ethernet cable rather than using WiFi. For information on how to install Citrix Receiver on a new laptop, please see the knowledge article Orthotrac Cloud: Installing Citrix Receiver / Cloud on a New Workstation.
With respect to tablets, Citrix Receiver should run fine on any Android tablet or iPad tablet. Many offices use these devices for chairside consultation or for patient check-in screens. We do not recommend the use of Microsoft Surface tablets due to compatibility issues. For information on how to install Citrix Receiver on iPad or Android devices, please see the knowledge article Orthotrac Cloud: Installing Citrix Receiver / Orthotrac Cloud on an iPad or iPhone Device, as well as Orthotrac Cloud: Installing Citrix Receiver / Orthotrac Cloud on an Android Device .
Please be aware, as well, that tablets will not be able to print anything from Orthotrac Cloud. Printing is only available from full workstations (either tower PCs or laptop PCs). We have seen some offices use the Apple AirPrint feature to set up printing from iPads, or Android users adding a printer as a Service on the tablet, but we do not support these setups and cannot assist if there are issues with them.
